Brookshire Brothers Helps The Coalition Kick Off Annual Project Sticker Shock
Brookshire Brothers helped The Coalition kicked off their annual Project Sticker Shock campaign in Angelina County on March 7, 2023. This campaign brings awareness to consumers about the consequences of providing alcohol to minors and the risk of underage drinking. Led by the Drug-Free All-Stars, these high school students placed stickers on alcoholic products in 28 surrounding locations, including Brookshire Brothers stores and Tobacco Barns. The stickers serve as a warning and include information regarding the risk of providing alcohol to minors.
Brookshire Brothers had the honor of hosting a press conference at its store, located on Frank Ave. in Lufkin, with the opportunity to hear from multiple speakers including:
Melissa Crager, Public Relations and Corporate Responsibility Manager; Brookshire Brothers
Abby Baker, Community Coalition Coordinator; The Coalition
Kelly Morris, District Engineer for Lufkin; Texas Department of Transportation
Hannah Spikes, Drug-Free All-Star; Lufkin High School
“We want our customers to celebrate in the safest way possible, which is why we so greatly value this annual partnership with The Coalition and the Drug-Free All-Stars who help bring awareness to all of us during this time of year,” Crager said.
Local statistics state that Angelina County youth’s first drug of choice is alcohol, according to the 2020 Texas School Survey from Region 5. Brookshire Brothers gladly supports the Drug-Free All-Stars with this campaign every year and looks forward to seeing the All-Stars raising awareness throughout our stores.
