Brookshire Brothers Celebrates Official Groundbreaking Ceremony
Brookshire Brothers celebrated at a groundbreaking ceremony showcasing the site of its new grocery store, Tobacco Barn and convenience store and fuel station in Huntington on Tuesday.
Surrounded by community members, Brookshire Brothers employee owners and members of the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce, the regional grocery chain officially announced its newest commitment to the Huntington community.
“Our customers in Huntington have been incredibly supportive of Brookshire Brothers for many years, and we’re very pleased that the opportunity has presented itself for us for us to build a new store for the community,” said Brookshire Brothers President and CEO John Alston. “Our company has had the good fortune to enhance and expand our operations significantly over the last several years, and it’s particularly gratifying to embark on this next phase of investment in Angelina County.”
Located on US-69, just inside the Huntington city limits, the main grocery store will be approximately 37,000-square-feet. It will house all of the unique amenities and custom offerings Brookshire Brothers customers have come to expect from their local grocery store including a full-service bakery and expanded hot deli, a seating area, the fresh meat market, and Brookshire Brothers Anywhere, the company’s premier grocery delivery and curbside pickup service. For additional convenience, Brookshire Brothers is adding a drive-through pharmacy to serve its customers better.
The site also includes a separate Tobacco Barn and Brookshire Brothers fuel station with parking that will accommodate boats and RVs to enhance the company’s overall footprint in Huntington.
This multi-million dollar investment demonstrates the company’s long-lasting commitment to the community, and they expect to complete the project in late fall of 2023.
“We have loved serving our customers in the heart of Huntington for the past several decades, but it was time for an upgrade,” said Public Relations & Corporate Responsibility Manager Melissa Crager. “The residents in Huntington deserve a beautiful, brand new facility where they can do their everyday shopping amongst the friendly faces they’ve come to know and love at our current location.”
The current store, located at 104 N. Main St., will remain open until the new store is completed.
