Brookshire Brothers Celebrates Huntington, Texas Store’s Grand Opening

Brookshire Brothers, a Lufkin, TX-based grocery chain, officially opened the doors to its newest grocery store, conveniently located along U.S. Hwy 69 South in Huntington.

The 36,000-square-foot store is located at 885 U.S. Hwy 69 South, just inside the northern city limits. 

The store highlights many of Brookshire Brothers’ signature features and key service lines, including an in-store pharmacy with drive-through, full-service bakery and expanded hot deli, in-house smoked meat and fresh meat market, massive produce department and Brookshire Brothers Anywhere, the company’s premier grocery delivery and curbside pickup service. There is also a convenient place to sit and eat near the deli. 

On Wednesday, March 6, the company celebrated its grand opening with free samples, giveaways and a ribbon cutting ceremony with the Lufkin/Angelina County Chamber of Commerce. The Huntington High School band, dance team and cheerleaders were among the crowd to help kick off the festivities. 

Brookshire Brothers has been at its Main Street location since 1991 and has been a longtime community partner. At its grand opening celebration, the community grocer recognized the First Baptist Church in Huntington’s food program, Huntington Independent School District, Huntington Police Department and the Huntington Volunteer Fire Department by donating $1,000 to each organization. 

Brookshire Brothers’ current Huntington employees will be moving over to the new location, in addition to the 30 new employees the company hired in anticipation of the grand opening.

Located just in front of the main store, a 3,600-square-foot convenience store and adjacent fueling station opened on August 30, 2023. That store features an expansive selection of alcoholic beverages inside a dedicated beer cave and the drive-thru accommodates trucks pulling trailers and boats for quick and easy pick-ups. Customers also have easy access to a large selection of camping items and fishing supplies, hot and cold deli meal options and a full lineup of all the standard convenience store items, such as sodas, energy drinks, water, candy and snacks.

Multiple RV, trailer and boat parking spots are located next to the fuel station that has eight dispensers with regular, mid-grade and premium options, as well as diesel and non-ethanol Brookshire Brothers-branded gasoline.

Brookshire Brothers will host an additional community event on Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to noon. Along with food samples and free balloons, a Brookshire Brothers truck and trailer will be on site as a hands-on experience for children in attendance. By downloading the Brookshire Brothers app, residents can sign up to win door prizes, such as bicycles, outdoor speakers, grills and $100 Brookshire Brothers gift cards.
