BBCF 2024 Grant Recipient Spotlight: Christian Information and Service Center of Angelina County

The Christian Information and Service Center of Angelina County enlists the support of churches and other Christian ministries to support Angelina County residents in times of genuine physical, spiritual, material, social and educational need. Established in 1982, their continual mission is to supply food and emergency financial assistance to those in need.

As part of a grant initiative, the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation provided “birthday boxes” to the food pantry to ensure families facing financial difficulties can still celebrate important milestones. Executive Director Yulonda Richard said parents often request the necessary ingredients to make a birthday cake for their child. Brookshire Brothers took it one step further to include not only the cake mix and frosting, but the candles, sprinkles and birthday card, as well, allowing families to create special memories even during tough times.
