2024 Trick or Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run
Benefiting the Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation
This year's Trick or Trot event is set for Saturday, October 26th, 2024.
For more than 100 years, Brookshire Brothers has made charitable contributions to aid in the fight against food insecurity and in support of programs and initiatives focused on education, health and wellbeing. The Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation (BBCF), a 501(c)(3) organization, furthers the company’s mission by assisting additional agencies on a larger scale.
One of the ways in which the BBCF has aided in this mission is through hosting its very own Trick or Trot 5K and Kids Fun Run every October, in which all proceeds from the event benefit the BBCF. Established in 2022, this family-friendly event in downtown Lufkin, Texas begins bright and early with a one-mile Kids Fun Run, and the timed 5K race shortly after.
Fun activities including vendor booths, carnival games, pumpkin painting and more follow the races, as well as a contest for the best-dressed kids and adults. Family-friendly costumes are highly encouraged for all in attendance!
“We wanted to create a fall festival atmosphere for this event in order to provide families with a safe and fun Halloween experience right here in our own hometown,” said Brookshire Brothers Public Relations & Corporate Responsibility Manager Melissa Crager.
“As your community grocer since 1921, Brookshire Brothers believes there’s nothing that goes together better than good food and good fun,” Crager said. “That’s why we’re so excited about this event. Not only will it be a lot of fun, it will also help a lot of people.”
Over the past two decades, the BBCF has awarded more than a million dollars in grants to deserving nonprofit organizations and education foundations so they may better serve their communities.
“The Brookshire Brothers Charitable Foundation supports numerous local nonprofit organizations, such as the Salvation Army of Lufkin, Alcohol & Drug Abuse Council, Buckner and Junior Achievement of Angelina County. We have a big heart for giving back, and we believe this event will help us do that even more,” Crager said.
